The Microcomputer/Network Specialist is primarily responsible for performing complex tasks, under minimal supervision, to support all PC and Network related activities. This position supports all the various bank departments and member companies of BOK Financial. This position is also responsible for performing complex tests, under supervision of the Systems Liaison, to support all LAN/WAN related activities; works with vendors to resolve network performance problems; interfaces between users and Network professionals.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
:Utilizes skills to support and resolve complex problems encountered by end users related to all the PC Networks, such as Cisco switches, routers and gateways, ensuring specification are met; maintains network management software, analyzing traffic and facilitating changes when required; works with mainframe communications and telecommunications and new software setup installation and maintenance.
:Assists Systems Liaison and Mgr, Tier II Network Operations, and Mgr, Planning and Integration with troubleshooting hardware such as device interrupt conflicts, base address conflicts, and cabling problems; assists in troubleshooting basic and complex LAN problems.
:Installs and configures complex computer hardware, peripherals, and corporate standard, shrink wrapped software, which includes installation of single or multiple computers as required by a Bank project, adhering to strict deadlines.
:Assumes responsibility for projects that are usually highly technical in nature and for all associated equipment installation and setup i.e., new student lending system, meeting deadlines and schedules set by management that can be critical and costly to the bank if not met.
:Researches, analyzes, and resolves basic hardware and software problems; contacts hardware and software vendors for support when necessary; makes recommendations to management regarding resolution and appropriate resolution.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
:Thorough knowledge and understanding of a variety of operating systems including but not limited to Windows and Cisco IOS
:Must have Cisco hardware programming and install knowledge
:Cisco Call Manager experience preferred
:Must have Desktop hardwaresofware support experience
:Strong technical background including knowledge of PC internals such as motherboard architecture, operating systems, board interrupts, ports, DMA channels, and conflicts
:Thorough knowledge of a cornucopia of software and the ability to understand new applications with a minimum of prior exposure to the product
:Working knowledge of LAN cabling requirements, specifications, and installation
:Working knowledge and understanding of mainframe communications
:Working knowledge and understanding of telecommunications
:Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Technology /Science, a Microsoft Certified Engineer certification, and 3:5 years experience as technical system support and network administration or 9:11 years work related experience.
