At STRIVE Prep, transformation is a choice that has led to:The opening of 11 free, public charter schools within Denver Public Schools (DPS) throughout Far Northeast, Northwest and Southwest Denver.A shared vision of making a college prep education for all students in our community the norm, rather than the exception, by growing from 11 schools serving 3,500 students to 17 schools serving 7,500 students by the year 2022.A commitment to serve all students from the neighborhoods in which we operate, whereby approximately 97% of STRIVE Prep students identify as students of color, 87% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch, 49% are English Language Learners and 13% receive Special Education services.92% of seniors from the networks first graduating class in 2016 were accepted to a 4-year college or university.The welcoming of any scholar from kindergarten through twelfth grade who desires to STRIVE for college. Because STRIVE Prep participates in the DPS SchoolChoice process, enrollment is open to any student in the communities we serve regardless of race, economic circumstance or previous academic achievement. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: STRIVE Preparatory is particularly committed to serving students with various educational needs and disabilities; we have a staffing model including a 1:12 ratio of mild moderate teachers, offer a continuum of services throughout our network (including 3 center based Special Education programs), and have a robust Response to Intervention (RTI) structure at each campus. This position reports to the Senior Director of Student Services. Provide highly responsive support to Special Education Department Chairs and Assistant Principals of Student Services (APSS) at assigned campuses in the areas of instruction, behavior, and case management including IEPs and 504 Plans.Lead dynamic Professional Development to Special Education Department Chairs and APSS that lead to positive student outcomes.Develop and implement a data-driven, strategic planning process to continuously improve high school student services at STRIVE Prep.Create replicable MTSS practices at the high school level.Continue with build-out and ongoing monitoring of alternative course of study options for students with IEPs.Support Campus Transition Coordinators as they build strong transition programming for students with IEPs.Serve as a liaison to DPS Support Partner for individual campus and student needs.Support the development and improvement of center-based Special Education programs.Develop and train Special Education Department Chairs in the evaluation and coaching of Special Education teachers. Our Aspiring Director of High School Student Services:Consciously choose to teach and transform the lives of high school scholars everyday.Proudly hold a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree and maintain a Special Education teaching license in the state of Colorado (required).Brings at least 4 years of experience teaching Special Education and managing a caseload (required).Understands and can pull from experience with a data driven MTSS process in the High School setting and preferably in center programs.Dedicates oneself to maintaining and improving student services at STRIVE Prep through thoughtful and well-developed management, professional development, and coaching/consultation.Brings a passion for forging strong relationships with campus professionals while holding high standards of compliance.Brings experience of at least 1 year of coaching/leading a team of teachers to demonstrate strong results for students with IEPs.problem solving, logistics, and coordinating details in a fast-paced environment. This is an administrative position that directly supports each STRIVE Prep high school campus.Uses Enrich Special Education case management software (preferred).Commit to constant growth and reflection as educators and professionals through regular coaching and professional development.Dedicate themselves to the educational success of all students, not some students.Bring enthusiasm, professionalism and positivity to their classrooms and our adult community.Assume the best in others, have a collaborative mindset and ability to work on a team, and are willing to have courageous conversations in order to do what is best for students.
