Veterinary Assistant Instructor - Part-time- EVENINGS Instruct evening courses in the Veterinary Assistant program. Educate and evaluate program students in accordance with the curriculum standards and objectives.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProduce, implement, and evaluate daily lesson plans for students to include scheduled lecture and laboratory activitiesPlan instruction to achieve specific objectives based upon established curriculumMonitor the daily attendance of students in the program and coordinate with Program Director when absences are habitual or occur two days in a rowMaintain student attendance records in accordance with established policiesReview student success rates and implement plans to reduce student withdrawals. Meet with students to encourage them to stay in the program. Maintain an 80% student success rate for all classes taught in the programEvaluate the performance of students regarding achievements in didactic and laboratory activities. Make necessary provisions to meet documented learning needsMaintain student grades in accordance with established policies. Prepare final grades within 3 days at the end of each course to update student records and transcriptsMay arrange guest speakers, community service, field trips, and visits to clinics in coordination with Program DirectorPrepare lectures and practical demonstrations for students in class and individuallyAssist and advise students with Veterinary Assistant program curriculumMaintain high standards and ensure that students both dress and behave in accordance with well established campus and program policieMay assist Program Director with inventory and ordering of supplies and equipmentMay assist Clinical Director in coordinating externships for Veterinary Assistant studentsMonitor students in the classroom at all timesAssist students to ensure safety precautions are adhered toMay participate in community service projects.The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSGraduation from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technician program A minimum of five (5) years of CVT experience Must be a CVT in good standing with CACVT Verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and strong organizational skills are required Knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and other computer skills Previous teaching experience is beneficial but is not required Availability to teach from 5:40pm-9:50pm Monday-Thursday (~17 hrs/wk)
