Company Name: Carbon8

About the Position:

We have been contracted to build a large, complex web application. The Application Development Project Manager will be dedicated to the project. This person will lead the team and will be ultimately responsible for the entire project. The position reports to the VP of Technology. Here’s how the job breaks down:

• Project Planning/Architecting (40% of job) – understand client needs, recommend the best solution for the task, write requirements documents for developers, manage project scope.
• Project Management (40% of job) – make sure the project is going smoothly on the development side and report on progress internally and to the client, verify everything works when it’s finished. Get it done right.
• Code Review and Testing (20% of job) – the buck stops with you.
• Get-it-done Attitude (a billion % of job) – in the development world’s fast/cheap/good tradeoff, we are investing the money, and we expect it to be fast and good. If you do good work and hit your dates regardless of what unexpected delays pop up, this is a good job for you.

More about the project:

• A big, complex, API-driven web application
• The UI will be a responsive website in phase 1; mobile apps in later phases.
• To define “big,” pretend it’s Basecamp. It is not Basecamp, nor does it have anything to do with that, but the two are somewhat comparable in terms of scope.
• Substantial file storage requirements
• It stores sensitive user data – security is paramount
• Coding language and technologies are TBD, though Node is a frontrunner.
• This will be agile development. We will release a minimum viable product and expand.

More about the team:

• The Application Development Project Manager (you)
• Design and UI design resources in our US offices
• 2-3 dedicated full-stack developers in our Vietnam office
• One QA resource in our Vietnam office
• On the client side, one staff member (subject matter expert) dedicated to the project

Skills and Experience Required:

• You need to have done this before. It’s too critical an application to learn on the fly.
• Meticulously detail oriented and organized
• Ability to adjust to changes in client needs

Compensation and Benefits:

This position pays a competitive salary, depending upon experience. Carbon8 offers health, dental, vision and life insurance. We also offer a company-sponsored 401(k) plan.

Carbon8 has a casual office environment and dress code, and excellent opportunities for career growth. Plus, you can walk to Little Man Ice Cream from the office.

Please note this position is expected to work out of our Denver office – it is not a remote working position.
