POSITION SUMMARY: Provides day to day operational supervision for patient care in PACU. Develops and maintains systems to promote internal and external customer satisfaction. Ensures patient care satisfaction, quality and safety. Promotes optimal patient outcomes. Demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills in the care of patients of designated units. Demonstrates basic and unit specific competencies. Provides patient care utilizing the nursing process – assessment, care planning, implementation, and reassessment – for identified patient populations per the Colorado Nurse Practice Act. Documents patient care administered, and monitors staff documentation of care delivered. Promotes and coordinates interdisciplinary communication and care. Supervises all staff, including RNs, MST, CNAs, and Unit Secretaries. Assists with completion of performance evaluations, participates in counseling and coaching of staff, new hires, and supervises day to day operations. Coordinates department compliance with all state, federal, and healthcare regulatory agencies, including JCAHO, State Health Department, QRS, etc. Participates in developing and evaluating PI initiatives as they relate to Pre-op. Cooperatively, with Manager and Director conducts team meetings, staff development, and education. Participates in fiscal management and budget preparation, including daily productivity management, PLUS, minor equipment and capital equipment needs planning. 24 hour accountability for smooth operations. Facilitates strategic planning goals and implementation in conjunction with Manager and Director for Spine and Total Joint center.
