Great:West Financial is currently seeking a Capacity and Performance Monitoring Engineer to join an established and expanding IT organization that is vital to the growth of our company. This role will be part of a new engineering team responsible for implementing and maintaining application performance and capacity monitoring tools in support of our growing environment. We are looking for an engineer with broad knowledge (for example Java applications, DevOps, performance tuning, monitoring, network, and Unix/Linux) to bring their passion for monitoring and data to our energized team. * This position is located in the Denver DTC This role will install, configure, and maintain our current set of monitoring tools.Collaborate with various teams to expand monitoring tool usage.Train support teams on tool usage and alert response.Establish related monitoring standards, processes and best practicesFollows established procedures and performs assigned tasks. BachelorA?s Degree (Computer Science or Information Systems) or equivalent applicable experience.Minimum 3 yearsA? previous DevOps experience preferred.Minimum 3 yearsA? previous systems engineering experience in either production support or monitoring and instrumentation of a large:scale distributed software system preferred.Minimum 3 yearsA? previous experience with Unix/A?Linux, including use of the command:line preferred.Minimum 2 yearsA? previous experience with regular expressions, shell scripting, and scripting languages such as Ruby, Python, Perl, etc. preferred.Demonstrated experience using and administering log management tools such as ELK, Splunk.Demonstrated experience using and administering APM tools such as AppDynamics, New Relic, etc.Demonstrated experience using and administering monitoring tools such as Nagios, AlertSite, Apica, Zenoss, etc.Demonstrated experience using and administering performance and capacity planning tools such as TeamQuest, etc.Demonstrated ability to establish requirements for monitoring from technical and non:technical resources.Demonstrated understanding of a three:tier web architecture.Demonstrated understanding of networking technologies and protocols.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate cross functionally at most levels.Strong analytical skills and proven methodical problem:solving ability.Ability to work both independently and within a team structure. Proven ability to self:motivate and self direct is important.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels.Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to multi:task or reprioritize resources or tasks for delivery in a fast paced changing environment.Proven customer focus, with a track record of being proactively oriented is.Occasional weekend and after hours work may be required.Preferred Technical Skills Include:Experience with Splunk queries, apps, and dashboardsExperience standardizing Splunk agent deployment, configuration, and maintenance across a variety of platformsA broad knowledge of monitoring principles and practicesA broad base of knowledge across multiple areas of ITExperience with performance and load testing tools such as LoadRunner, SOASTA CloudTest, Apache JMeter, Selenium, etcExperience with JiraExperience working with vendorsAt Great:West Financial
