We are looking for Engineers to help us plan (Planning), build (Engineering and Construction) and run (Operations) the network. The Planner is an individual contributor position supporting the overall design, cost and inventory of CenturyLink equipment by creating and supporting reliable network elements that meet CenturyLink's infrastructure and Product SLA.
To summarize, the Planner assumes the overall strategy, quality, integrity, and continuity/reliability of the network while ensuring that network capacity is available and used in the most efficient manner. When an augment is required, the planner ensures that it is properly sized, timed, and budgeted to achieve the required outcome. The Planner will be a resource within the department and across departments, to achieve on:time completion of business case development and product deployment to meet customer and internal demand sets. The Planner will be a strong, self:motivated individual with the ability to negotiate and communicate professionally in a dynamic and fast paced environment while maintaining the highest level of integrity and quality in their work.
:Completes complex network designs and cost analysis for projects/sites in their assigned area.
:Creates Network designs that encompass additions, rearrangements and removal to facilities as driven by customer contracts, capacity needs and/or network reliability enhancements.
:Prepares an approved funding package with a Scope of Work that details the projects costs, hardware and software, due date, circuit strategy and what the intended benefit will be when the project is completed. The Scope of Work document generally includes the hardware, software, specific location, tie cable, power and grounding requirements (in compliance with Telcordia, ILEC, and CenturyLink standards).
:Integrates new approved products into the network.
:Analyzes continually the existing network to drive toward the most up to date and reliable network.
:Works directly with vendors on tactical issues that arise during the course of daily ongoing activities.
:Serves as the primary budget creation point of contact for our financial group within the Global Operations and Shared Services organization. The Planner is fully responsible for allocating funds for their projects and making adjustments within the funding tool as they occur. The Planner also partners with Engineering to ensure the over budget targets are met.
:Bachelors Degree (Telecommunications, IT, Engineering, Business or Computer Science) or equivalent typically with 2:4 years or 0:1 years with a Masters Degree (Telecommunication, IT, Engineering, Business or Computer Science)
:Able to complete project assignments within discipline on time and within budget
