On Tues, Mar 21 our Night with a Futurist will be with award winning film composer and sound designer John William Doryk. John will be speaking about the Future of Music and Sound Technology from the standpoint of narrative storytelling and interactive media.

The evening will begin with a quick flyover to give everyone an understanding of the current landscape of modern music technology. We'll discuss advancements in non-linear digital recording technology, the age of plug ins, breakthroughs of virtual instruments, the current trends in film and video game music, and finally the melding of tradition scoring techniques with future adaptive music technologies being used in modern video game development.

We'll finish with a series of "hands on" demonstrations of current "state of the art" virtual instrument technology.

About the Presenter
For almost 30 years, John William Doryk has been creating and composing award winning underscores and soundtracks for programs that have aired on PBS, FOX, A&E Biography, ABC Nightline, History Channel, Discovery Channel, Netflix, many independent feature films and interactive media.

In 2010, he won Gold at the Park City Film Music Festival for his part in scoring the PBS series "For Love of Liberty, The Story of America's Black Patriots" with Halle Berry, Morgan Freeman, Samuel Jackson, and Alan Rickman. In 2015 he supplied original music for Ron Howard's program "Unsung Heroes".

Recently, he was commissioned by West Park Creative Group to compose music and select songs for Sight and Sound Theater's newest theatrical musical "Samson" which was recorded with players from the Nashville Symphony and Nashville String Machine. John lives in Colorado Springs with his wife and two children.
