Saturday January 26th Event to Benefit Project Angel Heart

Denver. – Steve's Snappin' Dogs with the help of Gabby Gourmet will host The Inaugural Best Tasting Green Chili Contest on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 1 pm to 3 pm. The contest will take place in the enclosed heated patio of Steve's Snappin' Dogs, 3525 East Colfax Ave., Denver. It will feature chili tasting by a panel of local celebrity judges, a live radio broadcast by Gabby Gourmet on KHOW 630AM and feature up to 20 area restaurants competing for the best tasting green chili in Denver. There will be free tastings for the audience and Steve's Snappin' Dogs plans to donate 10% of the store's daily sales to Project Angel Heart.

The contest will include over 15 area restaurants including: 3 Margaritas, Annie's Cafe, Attivo Pizzeria & Bar, Blue Bonnet Cafe, Bonnie Brae Tavern, Brewery Bar II, Ellucerito, Gridiron Grille, Jack n Grill, La Loma Mexican Restaurant, Lucy Restaurant, Punch Bowl Social, Rosa Linda's Mexican Cafe, Santiago's, Steuben's, and Wynkoop Brewing Company.

The judging panel will include: Project Angel Heart's executive chef Jon Emanuel, Westword author Lori Midson, 7News meteorologist Lisa Hidalgo, Mile High Sports Radio commentator Mark McIntosh, American Culinary Foundation's executive director Joan Brewster, journalist Penny Parker, and television personality Artie Guerrero.

“We anticipate that this will be one of our more successful Chow Down for Charity events to date with over 200 chili lovers and their families attending,” says Steve Ballas, owner of Steve's Snappin' Dogs. “The Chow Down for Charity project was created 5 years ago by Mike Wheaton and myself as a benefit for Project Angel Heart and other non profits. These Chow Down events are held regularly and staffed by volunteers of Project Angel Heart to help raise funds for worthy non-profits and educational institutions. To date, Steve's Snappin' Dogs and it's Chow Down for Charity project has helped raise nearly $11,000 for Project Angel Heart and $6,000 for other non-profits. It’s all about giving back to the community, we try to give as much as we can back to local beneficiaries so they can help those in need in our own community.”
